I've found the map corresponding to this level. I also figured out the clue and how the stations are translated to a word. I'm assuming that I need another list of stations to translate to get the answer to the level. But I can't find it.
I noticed that the mouse cursor changes shape over the ******* ****. But nothing happens when I click there or when I try to drag the mouse accross, etc. I'm waiting for a tooltip of anysort to pop up over the mouse pointer or in the status bar. Does this level work in all browsers? I tried using Firefox, Opera and Explorer, but the rabbit still does nothing.
An old proverb says : when the sage is pointing at the moon, the idiot stares at his finger... ;)
Hi there, registered because me and a friend both thought this kinda strange. Anyways, we used the clue to find the second part to this level but we're not sure if it's working as intended or not as we can't progress any further. Can someone check into this please? Alternatively you can PM me and I can give you what we have so we don't spoil it for others. Thanks.
It's working fine. Now just figure out how what you've found correlates to the clue and you're almost there.
I have figured out that part, how to translate and have the translated word from the bunny but it doesnt seem to take me anywhere.
I don't understand what the rabbit is hiding?
Added Sat Dec 16 11:24:09 2006 :
To be more precise: I solved the clue, that much is clear. And then? This doesn't give me an answer, it only shows that I can decode place names into characters. Whoohoo! The bunny rabbit is interesting, but doesn't seem to give away much. The pointer points but what does it point to? Once again I could use some help.
Do I need to understand the french notice above the rabbit? I think I know what it means, but does this imply the rest of the puzzle has a French connection (other than the French Underground)?
The rabbit says : "caution, don't put your hands on the door..."
Don't listen to him ;) and look everywhere...
Yes, it would do you well to read Toma's hint again.
OK. I got it. Thanks guys. I think I need a better monitor or better glasses, or both :-(. (A better brain might also help).
I'm totally clueless on this level, I can't seem to decipher Toma's hint either, can anyone supply a little extra help?
If the sage is pointing at the moon that means he can actualy see it. I've you ever point at something you can't see?
not sure if i'm being dumb or if it's not working, but I got the answer i needed for the second part of the puzzle. however, whenever i try to put it into the URL it gives me a 404 error. i've tried (answer).htm and (answer).html, both don't work. is there more that i'm missing?
Your answer is wrong, double check it carefully. I've spoken to at least one other person who jumped to conclusions and got the second half wrong.
Citation de: phreakymonkeyYour answer is wrong, double check it carefully. I've spoken to at least one other person who jumped to conclusions and got the second half wrong.
Yep. I worked one letter out incorrectly and it happened to be the one that would change it into a totally different word. thanks.
Ok, I've solved the clue, found the map, hold the c***** over the b****** h***, the first time I could see some movement but couldn't see anything legible (even in the dark), now, nothing.
Citation de: TomaAn old proverb says : when the sage is pointing at the moon, the idiot stares at his finger... ;)
The difference here is, in the proverb you refer to we assume the sage is actually pointing at the moon, not pointing to some distant mountain and saying "look at the moon!"
Or, to say it more clearly, that aspect of this puzzle could be cleaned up/made more precise. Move the bunny?
If I get your point right, you suggest to fine down the puzzle. But it's suppose to be labyrinthine. Yet, this is still a good hint.
well we can say that, in this riddle, you are the sage at the beginning, and you become the idiot ^^

i've found the hidden words
but how can i translate "michel ange, villiers, la motte = sex" its it doesnt make any sense :| ,help here???

This riddle is certainly not solvable by illitrate people.
Citation de: MPblackbut how can i translate "michel ange, villiers, la motte = sex" its it doesnt make any sense
It makes perfect sense once you've discovered the context in which it is true.
In other words:
it's a clue! Look at the pieces you have, and find the connection.

I have solved the first part. It took a while to get the first step. (I wasn't looking at the puzzle closely enough)
I am now stuck trying to figure out how to decode.
Should I be thinking association to the Stations or more of a cypher deal?

Start by trying to decipher the clue first! Once you understand that, you can apply the same logic to that which you've found! ;)
seriously! this level has me sooo frustrated!! I'm not sure if maybe its not working for me or what, but I can't see anything! I don't get the "list"!! what am I doing wrong!
I found Toma's "moon", but I'm rather confounded by the clue in this one. I understand that I have to translate station names into characters, but I really can't figure out how. I've been staring at a map of the P**** M**** for hours now, and I don't see any relation. Any subtle suggestions?
Maybe it's because you haven't understand what you have to translate.
I still don't know what to do with the first part of te clue so that it equals sex.

I'd just like some help on the clue. I am not good at French, but is the even relevant?
You don't need to speak a word of French for this. Well, maybe one word...
I think I am at the same point as some of the other posters...
I have found a map. I have located all of the l******** on the map, including the 3 in the c***. I have no idea how "sex" comes into it, or if the clue is even needed to solve this puzzle. I am assuming that if I understand how the l******** in the clue are translated into the 3 l******, then I'll be able to solve this puzzle. But I can't understand the translation.
Any help appreciated.
This one had me at a crossroads for a while as well... Just think of all the possible ways that you could describe these locations and try each idea. You'll tie up the loose ends eventually.
OK, so I've figured out the clue, and used it to translate the thing the bunny points to, and get something that seems like it should be the answer, but it doesn't work. I've double checked it like 6 times and still get the same (wrong) answer. Any help would be appreciated.
Um... I can't see La Motte on the map... please help
Well, I found the map, and finally understand the clue, but I have no idea how to find the names of the other stations.
Citation de: Hal3000OK, so I've figured out the clue, and used it to translate the thing the bunny points to....
If you've figured out the clue then you're off to a great start, however, no translating is required here. ;)
I was stuck with this one until I found a better English/French translator that gave me more than one option :)
Can someone maybe take a look at my answer and help me figure out where I went wrong? This is really bugging me, and I'm guessing it must be something small and silly. Please help!
phreakymonkey: PM sent.
edit: Okay, I've gotten this same message several times. To anyone who has what looks like a correct answer but it doesn't work, first make sure you're using the map provided, and not one you've found on the internet. Certain sources may be helpful, but may also lead you astray.
Alright, new to the forums. I just started yesterday and was pretty pleased with the pace of my progress except this level just has me stuck.
I've yet to decipher the clue and I think that's hurting my progress. I'm probably being obtuse about it, but nothing has yet jostled my brain into putting the pieces together. I also had some trouble finding the locations on the map but I -think- I found the three from the clue. That's about where I slowed to a halt and can't make any progress. Anyone got some advice or willing to give me a nudge to hopefully get me rolling in the right direction? If not, I'll just have to take a break and try to come back with fresh eyes.
What is so particular about the locations?
Alright, I deciphered the clue.. Coming back and looking at it after a break definately helped. Now I just have to figure out what locations I'm supposed to be using..
Once you understand where they're located, you'll know your on the right track. ;)
Is it possible to get a clearer map? I cannot read any of the place names on it. I've tried enlarging it but that makes the place names even harder to read.
thanks
The map you can get thanks to the clue is perfectly readable. Though you can always ask your favorite search tool to provide you another one.
Unfortunately I can't read it.
I have searched Google et alia and have found others, but they are the same or worse. Is the map essential to solving it?
thanks
rodolfu: Yes it's essential. But I don't understand how you can't read it. Are you sure your image is 100% sized?
Hey rodolfu, yeah the image is 100%, but my eyesight isn't. I've had to get someone to help me with one or two of the previous puzzles that had hard to read stuff in them. I'll have to wait to get someone to read this for me.
Some of the larger bold names are decipherable.
thanks
rodolfu: mmm okay. Sorry, I didn't know. Indeed I haven't found a bigger map on the web. As you say, I think the best is to ask someone to read it for you :s

If your using Windows XP then maybe the accessibility magnifier might help. Look in all programs.
Hmmm...
I can't really see how the stations on the map correspond to letters: the best I can come up with is that v******* is placed in the middle of what looks like an X.
I also don't get what to do with the bunny, it doesn't seem to be pointing to anything for me.
plus, there seems to be two m***** a*** s*******, is that right?

just remember how in the past he has hidden clues before, also think about the clue, how it has been used to help you before, maybe it's a cipher?
(1st post, so hopefully I won't reveal too much...)
I just got past this one, with the aid of this thread. A few points...
(1) The left-hand side of the clue and Google should help you solve the 1st piece of the puzzle (the p**** m**** m**)
(2) Toma's, bidipe's and glouton's first clues in this thread should help you solve the 2nd piece of the puzzle (the l********)
(3) The entire clue gives you the method for finding the answer to the puzzle. Use the m** and l******** as "inputs" to the method. However, I did find that the first m** returned from a Google search was more useful than the one provided in the game, mainly because of the ability to search for the l******** in the m**. However, I found that the alternate m** yielded a difference in one letter in my answer, and this one difference actually generates a valid word (eightbithero mentioned this earlier in the thread). You should use the m** provided in the game to get this one letter correct.
(4) Stay on track ;)
Toma's quoted proverb is prefect for this level.

I thought you said you knew how to do this????
First of all, figure out the clue! Understand what it is that you're looking at and how Swan got that result.
Once you do that then read Toma's post #3 for the second clue. :)
How can the bunny help me? I click on the door but nothing happens. It doesn't involve changing the url does it?
You just have to read the Toma's post #3 as said before.

I can tell you know how to read, but instead you need to understand!
Let's say the bunny is the sage and door is the finger, who's the idiot? ;)
and nope!! no URL change!
I think I'm an idiot, because I can't figure out what the bunny is pointing to. The track? But even so, which track is he on. By the way, I get how michel ange, etc. relates to sex I just don't understand where to apply that.
I KNOW this has been discussed in previous posts about a million times, and I understand the quote in the context of the quote, but I can't figure out what the "moon" would be in this case! Any hints at all (PLEASE not something like, "just reread the posts" I have already!)

No conversions are really necessary. If you understand the clue, you will get the answer from what you have.

think about why you are given a map and what on it can be helpful :) it probably

I wouldn't be so sure that the rabbit isn't doing anything. There's never anything that's completely useless, especially if it sticks out a lot, like a rabbit on a blank screen, or a silverfish on a black wall. If you try some things with the rabbit, you should be able to find that it does more than just s**t.
OK, I've been more stuck on this level than any before. It's especially frustrating because everything I'm doing seems to make sense. I got how the 'clue' works in about 10 mins. I got the correct m**. I see the "wordplay" and how that corresponds to the m**. Staying on track I end up with 11 possible s******s, 9 of which translate into letters. The letters make nothing resembling a word, not even re-arragnged, and yes I'm using the same thing I did to work out the original clue. I hate resorting to this forum so please don't tell me too much except: Has what i've done made sense with regards to getting the correct answer or are you reading this and thinking "eh? what are you on about!?"

No, there aren't any small little clues on this map (I know what you're talking about).

Hello everyone,
I'm stuck on this level for some time now. Found the map, found the stations, but nothing else so far. For the fist time I have no idea what to do with the clue... Does it correlate to the locations or names o something else?
I got it without looking at the clue. Just use the m**, and do the appropriate thing in the order provided
On my monitor nothing did show up. Even with gammacorrection and all other stuff ect.
So i had to look up the solution. Otherwise it would have been impossible to solve the riddle.
I understood the clues, found the map, but without the "moon" : that was definitely NO FUN
Someone should check that picture !

I had trouble finding the moon as well. It is there, you just need to have patience, and look realy closely where the sage is pointing.
Limax
The "moon" (see post #3) is still there on my monitor. Don't know why it's not on yours. Are you looking in the right place? BTW - for everyone else - after I looked at the clue, it also does "the appropriate thing in the order provided". (see my post above)

Hahah, it's so easy when You finally see the moon... I guess I've been asking wrong questions ;]
OK, so i figured out the first part of the riddle ( the clue ) and I think that I know what the "moon" everyone's talking about is ( I think it's p**t* in French ). I found all the "moons" on the map but when I convert them I don't get any vowels.
Oh yeah, what's the deal with that highlighted st****n? Does it mean anything?

If you don't get any vowels, then the answer is probably wrong. (unless its a special word like rhythm);) the highlighted station has already been covered in this thread.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but when I mapped out the 3 locations in the clue, I got something that kind of looked like a rabbit. That confused me for quite a long time until I realized that it was completely coincidental (and didn't really look that much like a rabbit anyway). Did this happen to anyone else?

Bino, it seems like you're going along the same path that I did (see my post above)! Believe me it's nothing that clever! In fact it really annoyed me. Despite what others say, DON'T look too closely at where it's pointing (I was looking at every single pixel I thought was relevant - it doesn't help) and try adjusting your monitor settings perhaps.
There was no way I would have ever gotten this level, despite working out the clue in the first 10 minutes, if my husband hadn't opened it on a different computer.
Hi,
Most of the time you try to help us out giving clues about the "Moon", I already saw the "Moon", but my problem is at the clue, I dunno how to relate michel ange, villiers, la motte = sex.
If you could help me, I'd appreciate :P
In this level (and most levels from here on out) all the clue does is gives you a way to interpret the riddle.
If you have three locations corresponding to three letters, what you should be doing is trying to figure out how you can relate each side of the "equation" in the clue. Then use that method to interpret the moon.
Yeah, I kind of figured that part out myself. I'm just having major trouble figuring out the clue.
Do we pay attention to the l******* relative to each other or to something else? Would you be able to solve the clue without the m**? What do you pay attention to on the m**?
Some small hints on how to solve the clue would be welcome.

Guess work ?! Rhoooo, shame on you jamface. Deduction maybe but not
guess work... Remember that everything is logical on OF. ;)
