Don't be too specific but don't be too vague. It's rather hard to find the right way to ask but imagine yourself in a room with other players. You can't whisper and you need to solve a riddle, you have the right to ask for a clue those who have already solved it, but you don't want the other players to find before you. To understand what you're asking for, one should be at the same step. Don't spoil the steps for the others ! You can use metaphors if you want. Show us that you're smart!

If you help somebody :

Don't help him too much, don't deprive him the pleasure to find by himself, just guide him on the way without being too specific, using as much images, metaphors and maybe other riddles as you can. After all, you're smart too !

If everybody plays by the rules, things will be much more funny and no one will get hurt.

Write in a correct language, ban SMS style and try to avoid spelling mistakes as much as possible.

Alright.  I'm stuck.
I put the hidden message into notepad, and worked it out, and I see that it says C****.  But I don't know what to do with it.  I put it in .w**, and I think it's just signifying the same thing as the hidden message.  I tried using C**** as my answer, but nothing.  I tried opening C****.*** in notepad, and the hex editor, but nothing.

At least a small hint: the first part of the line is not part of the message itself, it is a clue

If you mean you aren't fast enough to do it all, then I gotta tell you that nobody is that fast. But all still managed to write out the correct answer. If things are going to fast, you should find a way to work at it according to your own speed.

OK, I've spent days on this and I'm completely stuck. Like mattzerland I've got as far as C**** and have hit a brick wall. Should I be finding a .w** somewhere, because nothing I've tried works.  Also, this talk of being fast with the ***** and ----- makes no sense to me.  Am I missing something obvious? A hint or two would be much appreciated.

If you have found what you say you have then you already know the answer to your first question. Follow giega's suggestion and you will succeed.

Yes, there is a C****.wav, for those who may be stuck on the same step I was until very recently. You could easily interpret the previously posted 'hint' as there not being one, since the file doesn't manifest itself in the first few places you're likely to look. So then you falsely conclude that you should be looking for other file extensions instead and end up wasting lots of time.

"Try again" is poor advice btw. If you do the same thing you've already done you will get the same result. Some would call that the definition of insanity.
A better hint might be: "Don't forget where you found things." This is a difficult riddle, but a logical one.
