Am I trying to finish the image?
Yes! :)

Nerd

How do you know that youve found the right answer after playing with the hex?

Arwen

you know you have the right answern because, if you have an answer, it's the right one, if not, you have no answer.

A hex seems to make no sense at all. I understand what a hex is for, but what is the purpose? You type something in, and somehow, an answer magically pops up? Also, the guide for mac users doesn't seem to help me, as most of the tips from the forum are formatted into the pc, rather than the mac. Just very frustrated...

phreakymonkey: You probably didn't read my guide closely enough, then. Even so, your ability to complete this level is completely unhindered by your platform. In fact, the only thing on this level that's platform-specific is the icons used. If you don't know how to use a hex editor, use your friend Google to look up some tutorials, or even better, open it up and start poking around. (After making duplicates of your files, of course, so you can start over from a clean copy if and when you corrupt anything by messing with it.)

Well, it seems that you might be missing an important piece of the puzzle! Are you sure you've found all the clues?
Once you have, the hex editor will let you see the bigger picture! Literally! :P

How do I combine the pazzles? I mean, everything I do makes the files currupt :-( even opening the t** file, changing it, open it again and changing it back making it currupt. what the heck? :-(

Carol

Well, I suppose that it was just a matter of time before I turn to this forum for some help.
I'm completely stuck and don't know how to move on.
All the reply's above I've read (several times) and I've been poking around with the clues in the HEX editor, even opened some of my own files in the editor to see any resembling, but nope.

You should always work with copies, never the originals. ;)

hmm, do your own files and the ones you've downloaded look the same? Does anything stand out to you?  :)

hey
i've read all of the replies on this thread and i'm still completely stumped as to how to do this
i realize afterwards someone may tell me that the answer is right under my nose hehe! but i've been working on this for quite some time now

so i have the hex editor.
i opened the both the ***.*** file and the *****.*** file with the hex editor
i've opened some copies of various files in the hex editor to see if anything matches up with the ***.*** file, but nothing looks familiar to me!

it all just looks like a bunch of jibberish :(

if by second thing you mean the middle file, then yes... if you mean the part after the equals sign, then no, but you do need to aquire it, just do what the riddle says and you should be fine ;)
